Magnetic field of Jupiter

Jupiter has the strongest magnetic field of all the planets. The models used here can all be found in Russell and Dougherty (2010).

GSFC O6 (d3)

A degree three spherical harmonic model of Connerney (1992) based primarily on Pioneer 11 observations.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

GSFC O6 (d2)

Identical to GSFC O6 (d3) but truncated at degree 2.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

Galileo 15 (d3)

A degree three spherical harmonic model based on Galileo measurements. The Galileo measurements are taken in the rotational equator, so the g20, g31, and h31 spherical harmonic terms are not well resolved.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

Galileo 13 (d3)

Identical to the Galileo 15 (d3) model, except the poorly resolved g20, g31, and h31 terms are fixed at their GSFC O6 value.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

Galileo (d2)

Identical to Galileo 13 (d3) but truncated at degree 2.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

P11-FGM

Degree 2 spherical harmonic model based on Pioneer 11 measurements. The g20 value is held fixed at the GSFC O6 value.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

Voyager 1

Degree 2 spherical harmonic model based on Voyager 1 measurements. The g20 value is held fixed at the GSFC O6 value.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

Voyager 2

Degree 2 spherical harmonic model based on Voyager 2 measurements. The g20 value is held fixed at the GSFC O6 value.
Download spherical harmonic coefficients

Ulysses

Degree 2 spherical harmonic model based on Ulysses measurements. The g20 value is held fixed at the GSFC O6 value.
